Brain and Tissue Donation

If death is imminent, please call 201-951-6661

MS Snapshot Study

Individuals living with multiple sclerosis who wish to donate their brain and related tissues after death are invited to enroll in a prospective study.  They will be contacted intermittently to learn about the course of their disease and symptoms related to MS, and their course of treatment. Participants are invited to share MRI data.

Once you have enrolled in the MS Snapshot study the link for the Intent to Donate Form will be sent to you.

Non-MS Snapshot study

If you wish to participate in the snapshot study but do not have MS, we welcome you to enroll. Participants will be contacted intermittently as a control in the study of MS progression.

Once you have enrolled in the MS Snapshot study the link for the Intent to Donate Form will be sent to you.

Logistics Of Brain donation

When death is near, the next of kin contact our coordinator team, who confirms consent and arranges for removal of the brain and tissues locally, and shipping to the home site.  After death, the tissue removal is performed and the remains returned promptly to the funeral home and family for memorial or religious services; there is no disfigurement.

We are an ever growing community committed to fighting MS. For some, it can feel as if there’s no way to help. Brain donation is a direct way to advance the scientific understanding of disease. Join us today to find the cure.
